Xbox Cloud Gaming: Better performance on Xbox One compared to console | Xbox One

If you’re still on your 2014 Xbox One and its performance is not up to date, Microsoft may have a solution for you. Xbox Cloud Gaming, otherwise known as xCloud, will soon allow you to play Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Games at no extra cost to your membership. The Spanish Youtube channel ElAnalistaDeBits saw the performance of this online service on the Xbox One and it works more efficiently than any other.

What does Xbox Cloud Gaming offer?

Xbox Cloud Gaming was born on November 14, 2019. Previously offered on specific compatible smartphones, it quickly expanded to other platforms. iOS, PC and Xbox consoles are now gradually joining the service powered by 100% Xbox Series X! The transmission stream is 1080p / 60 FPS and Microsoft is now targeting 4K at 120 FPS.

A total of six games have been tested: Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, Hellblade, The Medium, Battlefield V and Psychonauts 2. All titles work better than consoles in the online service, and even better. In terms of in-game rendering, xCloud is closer to the Xbox Series S than the Xbox Series X, which is the fault of the blurring effect imposed by the retransmission of the stream.

Medium is hard to compare because it is not on the Xbox One! Therefore the cloud version was compared to the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X and the result was very mixed. The version of the online service is lower than that obtained in the Xbox Series S. Resolution, Ray-tracing and FPS, but the graphics in xCloud are slightly lower, note the texture of the book cover on the mirror face.

Double Fine Studios’ latest baby, Psychonauts 2, you can now play at 60 FPS, which is not a luxury for a platform game like this. Loading times in this title are almost ten times faster! Goes from 1 minute and 17 seconds to just 8 seconds.

Compare Latest Title Battlefield V. The Xbox One is running at 900p dynamics with 50-60 FPS, which is now more stable at native 1080p, Xbox Cloud Gaming at 60 FPS, load times halved and more. There is no reduction in the frame rate. On the other hand, the graphic difference is not very noticeable.

Admirable performance, but not without discounts

While the results are good, keep in mind that playing through this system can be nerve-wracking. In fact, if your internet connection is not stable, your resolution can go from 240p to 1080p which is as fun as yoyo. While some captions are less optimized than others, Gears 5 is a perfect example of the best caption in the service, unlike Forza Horizon 4, which suffers most from the delay input-log between controller and console.

Keep in mind that the service is constantly improving and although some games have not yet been played for sure, huge improvements have been made over the past two years. Xbox Cloud Gaming is a great compromise if you have enough connection and are always on the lookout for Holy Grail: Xbox Series X.
