“Currently Ontario is the only province that has requested this, so we are happy to work more closely with them. We will contact their authorities today to formalize this request,” Justin Trudeau told a news conference Friday.

International students are among those exempt from travel restrictions imposed by the Canadian government.

Since the start of the third wave sweeping in Ontario, Prime Minister Doug Ford has repeatedly called on Mr Trudeau to tighten border rules to reduce the entry of new variants.
