“Who told you that I was not honest and transparent with my employers”, defended Solange Crevier, who many years ago admitted her mistakes to the Ministry of Culture, Desjardins, VIA Rail and Bombardier.

In the sentencing phase, the 59-year-old woman, who is coming off a six-month jail sentence for defrauding VIA Rail, is now seeking to serve her sentence at home for two other cases.

Beginning in September 2014, a woman posing as Solange Greuer issued a bogus contract for $23,800 and amended another ministry contract to pay a web expert $15,000 for a total fee of $24,300, while releasing her $9700.

“Hounded” by the Media

Crevier worked as an IT consultant at Desjardins for over two years from August 2015 to November 2017. To avoid detection, she falsified her husband’s aunt’s driver’s license to call Joan Richer.

The woman pleaded guilty to the charges, but during her testimony as part of sentencing submissions, she tried to downplay the extent of the crimes. She explained that she changed her name because she was hounded by the media due to past convictions.

“I came to the conclusion that I had no choice,” said the suspect, who has allegedly received dozens of calls from journalists since 2010. However, the Crown prosecutor, Mi Melanie Tremblay, asked for a two-year prison sentence, which he did. Admittedly, the first articles on his crimes date back to 2015.
