(Toronto) U.S. The U.S. Border Agency said Wednesday that Canadians trying to cross the border will not only be vaccinated against COVID-19, but will also be denied entry as recommended by a doctor.

“Travel for the sole purpose of obtaining the vaccine is not permitted under current restrictions,” a U.S. agency spokesman said. However, an individual may “enter the United States for legal travel reasons, as permitted by current guidelines, and receive the vaccine in addition to their trip.”

This is contrary to the position of the Canadian government, which considers this type of travel to be mandatory and therefore permissible and exempts passengers from compulsory liability on return.

Brian Higgins, a U.S. congressman who overdosed on New York State, on Wednesday asked Governor Andrew Cuomo to welcome Canadians looking for vaccines. He noted that many border states, including North Dakota, Alaska, Washington and Montana, have allowed Canadian citizens to be vaccinated.

“Our Canadian neighbors need more help,” said Higgins, co-chair of the Congressional Northern Border Caucus and the Canada-United States Inter-Parliamentary Group.

David Musiz, director of Windsor Regional Hospital in Ontario, described the situation as “very political and requires clarity and leadership”. Mr Musiz suggested that “efforts be made to bring vaccines to Canada.”
