An employee of the Vancouver McDonald's exams who are compatible with COVID-19

Vancouver – An employee at a McDonald’s location in downtown Vancouver tested positive for COVID-19, the company said Friday.

McDonald’s Canada called the incident a “proactive statement” the same day the worker reported a positive test.

The employee works at the location of a fast food restaurant near the streets of Davey and Cordero and was late Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

McDonald’s said the site was temporarily closed for “extensive cleaning and disinfection by a certified third party”, but has already reopened.

“All staff members who are in close contact with the employee have requested self-restraint until further information is available,” the company said in a statement.

The incident did not trigger a public alert from Vancouver Coastal Health and was not listed on the Health Authority’s Public Exposures page.

McDonald’s Canada recommends following the advice of customers who visited the restaurant on Tuesday BC Center for Disease Control.

Each location follows better security measures, including counters with safety screens and capacity limits for users. Workers also wear gloves and masks and clean tables and other high-touch surfaces.
