BC reported 549 new COVID-19 cases in four days as the death toll rose to 250

B.C. records 269 new COVID-19 cases over three days, as active cases top 900
A new 549 cases were reported Tuesday by a BC top physician COVID-19 Four days and five new deaths.

170 cases were reported from Friday to Saturday, 159 from Saturday to Sunday, 119 from Sunday to Monday and 101 from Monday to Tuesday. Five cases are EP-linked.

The province records 100 or more new COVID-19 cases every day for 12 consecutive days.

Henry on Tuesday said the numbers were “more than we’d like to see” and attributed the rise in backlog to cases that added “extra day worth of tests” to the totals.

Henry said the backlog, which mostly occurred in the Fraser Health area, has now been cleared.

Henry said the positive test rate was 1.39 percent.

“We want to be here,” she says. “We need to be able to pick those cases in the community and make sure we are doing contact tracing on everyone.”

Five deaths brought the regional death toll to 250.

The number of active cases in BC increased to 1,476.

More than 3,600 people have been left alone due to exposure to the virus.

There were 10,734 confirmed cases in the COVID-19 case. Of those, 8,974 patients had fully recovered, or 84 percent.

The number of people hospitalized with the disease has risen from nine to 77, the highest amount since May 5.

Twenty-four patients were in intensive care – a five-fold increase from Friday – and the highest number since May 1.
