Brilliance in Montreal and Quebec: Paramedics block SAQ warehouses

Paramedics staged a coup on Friday morning by blocking the Society des Alcoles du Quebec (SAQ) distribution centers in Montreal and Quebec.

The demonstration aims to denounce the lack of a government offer that would allow workers in the pre-hospital sector to respond, without collective agreements for almost two years.

Unions affiliated with CSN are demanding pay adjustments to ensure that paramedics receive competitive treatment compared to those in other public security services or hospital emergency rooms.

Negotiations were hampered by outdated work schedules that forced paramedics to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergencies.

“Now that agreements have been reached in the entire public sector, it is unthinkable that the government will not exert more energy to settle with us who are still negotiating with the state,” said Claude Lamarche, interim president of the Pre-Hospital Union. – CSN.

“Our demands are aimed at improving services to population and ambulance coverage in all parts of Quebec,” Mr Lamarche explained.

SAQ’s warehouses were therefore blocked by demonstrators, prompting Crown Corporation to respond by letting its customers know that the exhibitors were not their employees.

“These demonstrations will unfortunately disrupt our operations, but we believe the consequences on our operations will be minimal,” SAQ said in a press release.

“We are in consultation with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety of our employees and our assets,” she added.
