California | A Boeing 777 makes an emergency landing after a flat tire

(Los Angeles) A Boeing 777 made an emergency landing in Los Angeles on Thursday after it lost a tire on one of its wheels during takeoff, adding to recent setbacks for the American plane maker.

Video posted online shows one of the landing gear wheels falling off the plane seconds after it left the ground at San Francisco International Airport.

According to local media KRON4, the tire bounced and ended up in the airport parking lot, damaging several cars but causing no casualties.

The tire destroyed many cars.

United Airlines said the flight was bound for Japan and had 249 people on board.

She also said the plane has six wheels on each of its two landing gears, so if a wheel is missing or damaged it will land safely.

The emergency landing comes two months after an incident involving another model from the American aircraft maker.

In early January, a cap holder on a Boeing 737 MAX 9 operated by Alaska Airlines separated from the cabin minutes after takeoff.

Investigations were launched by American officials responsible for aviation safety, and a report from an independent commission appointed by the Air Regulator (FAA) particularly pointed out flaws in manufacturers' safety systems.
