Criminal charges against conspirator Mario Roy

Criminal charges against conspirator Mario Roy

Four criminal charges have been filed against the anti-mask movement figurehead, who will remain in custody until at least his release on Monday.

“I have responsibilities this weekend,” Mario Roy told the court in Montreal this Friday.

The 49-year-old accused, who claimed to have had cider at risk of losing the apple crop this weekend, has demanded his release on bail. Unless his wishes are fulfilled: he will submit his arguments to the judge only on Monday. And until then, he will be in jail.

Roy faces four criminal charges, including threatening and harassing Barrow du Quebec’s lawyer, as well as failing to comply with two lawyers’ prohibitions on social networks.

Recently, Roy, who has been at loggerheads with Barrow du Quebec, was convicted by a court of law in a civil contempt case for violating an order prohibiting him from performing actions reserved for lawyers. He will return to court next week for petitions on the grant to be obtained.
