Quebec bus manufacturer Nova Bus has been selected to supply 1,229 electric buses from 2025 to nine public transit companies and one public transit company in Quebec.
The contract, awarded after a call for tenders coordinated by the Association du Transport Urbane du Québec (ATUQ) and the Société de Transport de Montréal, is valued at approximately $2 billion.
This ATUQ call for tenders was launched on behalf of nine public transit authorities and one public transit organization in Quebec: the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM), the Société de Transport de Laval (STL), the Réseau de Transport de la Capitale. (RTC), the Réseau de Transport de Langueil (RTL), the Société de Transport de Lévis (STL), the Société de Transport de l’Outois (STO), the Société de Transport de Sherbrooke (STS), the Service de Transport en Commune de Trois-Rivières (STTR), Société de Transport du Saguenay (STS) and Exo.
Built in Saint-François-du-Lac and assembled at the Saint-Eustache plant, the buses will be delivered over a period of three years from 2025, Nova Bus said in a press release.
The company said it was “one of the largest electric bus orders in North American history.”
