Nearly 200 people gathered Saturday afternoon at Place Jacques-Cartier in Old Montreal to protest the mandatory vaccination of health care workers. Protesters wore their work clothes.
“10-15-21 expires,” one woman wrote on her blue hospital pants. Quebec flags were flying in the air, marking marks calling for “freedom”. However, most of the citizens were dressed.
Several civic mobilization groups staged demonstrations, including the Quebec Pro-Choices and the Famous du Quebec A Front, which oppose health measures. The groups said a mandatory vaccination would soon be imposed on several trades in Quebec.

A nurse, who did not want to be named, came to express her outrage over the mandatory vaccination. “Hospitals are empty,” she says Tap. “We are going into a wall called dictatorship,” she said.
The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubey, reiterated Quebec’s position on mandatory vaccination.
“Message to 15,000 non-vaccinated health network employees: major measures to restructure services will be announced this week. We are maintaining public health status for 330,000 employees by October 15. The only way to reduce the impact is to vaccinate,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
One protester, seeking to remain anonymous, marched to express his opposition to the establishment of a compulsory vaccine and vaccine passport. He said the measures imposed by the government were “abusive” and would create “discrimination”.
A teacher, along with her two daughters, had to walk “for their future.” “Instead of going for prevention, [le gouvernement] Give us treatments, ”she said, promoting a healthier lifestyle than the vaccine.
“The right to refuse any medical intervention is a fundamental right,” said another protester, wearing a white medical coat and asking for anonymity. “We must live with respect for everyone’s diversity,” he added.
Protesters marched through downtown streets, from Old Montreal to Dorchester Square. In front of a Montreal court, a group of protesters stopped shouting Shame on you! (“Shame on you!”).
Strong police reinforcements were deployed during the demonstration. However, the overflow did not happen, the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) said at the end of the day.
