The PLQ’s new interim leader made it a priority. Marc Tanguay met with the chosen one from Vaudreuil on Sunday to convince her to rejoin the team. The two will appear before the media on Tuesday to formalize the deal, which kicks off a three-day preparatory meeting for Liberal MPs to return to parliament.

After reflection, Ms. A proposal to extend the honorary position of Nicholas 3rd Vice-President for an exceptional two-year term was tabled. The acting chef cut the pear in half. Franz Benjamin, who was originally selected by Dominique Anglade for the seat, will hold the position for the next two years.

There does not appear to be any precedent for a pre-determined two-year term for this position. In fact, normally, presidents or vice presidents are appointed for four years. But according to reliable sources, nothing in the rules of the National Assembly prevents it. Note that this position comes with a 35% salary premium.

It remains to be seen whether other political groups will accept this strategy.

Derraji is a parliamentary leader

The departure of Dominic Anglade led to a slight change of party cards on Monday.

After Marc Tanguay became interim leader, Monsef Derrazy took over as parliamentary leader and Virginie Dufour as deputy parliamentary leader. Filomena Rotirotti continues as Chief Opposition Whip and Enrico Ciccone as Caucus Chair.

But MNA Nicholas’ return to the PLQ’s ranks will involve other adjustments in the responsibilities of the official opposition’s shadow cabinet.

During the last legislature, Vaudreuil’s elected representative was the opposition critic for municipal affairs and housing. While waiting to be appointed as the 3rd Vice President of the National Assembly, it is rumored that she may resume some of her past duties.
