Olimel has closed two other plants in Quebec

Olimel announced the closing of its plants in Blainville and Laval, resulting in the loss of 170 jobs.

The pork and poultry processing company announced in a press release on Wednesday that the date of cessation of operations has been set for April 28.

The Blainville and Laval plants have 134 and 36 employees, respectively.

Both companies specialize in the production of hams, pates and charcuterie sold under various brands including La Tour Eiffel and Nostrano.

“Many of these brands are handled and production volumes are distributed in other Olimel plants, mainly in pork further processing plants. The fate of the buildings housing the two establishments will be assessed between now and the final closure,” he said.
