Reusable cups are allowed at Tim Hortons

Reusable cups are allowed at Tim Hortons

From Wednesday, Tim Hortons customers will once again be able to bring their reusable cup to the restaurant and drive-thru.

The chain withdrew this action two years ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, customers will receive a 10 percent discount on their drink if they bring their cup and will be able to serve a soft drink for the first time.

The restaurant chain aims to reduce the number of single-use cups used and hopes to surpass the nearly 15 million hot drinks milestone offered in recyclable cups by 2019.

“We look forward to reclaiming recyclable cups at our restaurants and we have worked hard with Tim Hortons owners to make sure the process is safe,” Tim Hortons’ senior director of innovation and sustainability said Monday.

“Now, since we can also serve soft drinks in guests’ reusable cups, we have the opportunity to further reduce the use of single-use cups,” Yang added.

Additionally, Tim Hortons guests will be able to pre-order using the mobile app in the future and let the restaurant know that they are bringing their own reusable cup, which must have a secure lid for drive-through.
