Promotional cups offered as gifts in some Canadian stores with the purchase of NÜTRL alcoholic beverages are being recalled because they are dangerous to your health.
Promotional items are manufactured by Sunscope Company.
“Testing by SunScope revealed that some of the cups may have a chemical cleaning solution trapped between their inner walls, containing levels of sulfuric and phosphoric acids,” NÜTRL Canada said in a statement.
The company explains that the interaction between the cup and the chemical cleaning solution released when the cup is filled with liquid “leads to increased levels of iron, chromium and nickel.”
“Ingestion of these substances has been associated with various adverse effects including damage to the lips, tongue, throat, stomach and other tissues, as well as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhea,” the statement said.
If they come in contact with the skin, these substances can also cause blisters or burns.
According to Global News, Sunscope has received reports of at least 43 customers experiencing various symptoms after using the recalled cups.
