Tenant's Rights | The Quebec Bar offers free consultations

The Legal Clinic of the Barreau du Québec has opened 500 time slots for consultations on housing law. Students from École du Barreau will offer their advice free of charge to the first registrants until mid-July.

The Quebec Bar announced this in a press release on Tuesday.

In addition to offering virtual appointments, the Legal Clinic of the Barreau du Québec offers in-person appointments at its centers in Montreal, Quebec, Gatineau and Sherbrooke.

Bar school students who work in the legal clinic offer their advice “under the close supervision of experienced attorneys,” the bar said in its press release.

We can read in the press release that these meetings will help the Legal Clinic “relieve the stress felt by people who are at risk of losing their homes, facing unreasonable rent increases, renovations or attempts to reclaim illegal housing.”

People seeking advice on housing will be able to book a consultation on the Barro du Québec's legal clinic website starting Tuesday evening.
