Members of the municipal administration of Saint-Bernard de Beauvoir distanced themselves from the “controversial” positions taken by Mayor Andre Gagnon.

In a statement released Friday, council members said “recommendations and actions taken by government leaders, federal and regional, as well as coronavirus, have been taken in his private life.”

“The next person took care not to mix his personal positions with his work in the town hall,” one said.

Newspaper Mr. Gagnon was reported Friday to have taken part in a demonstration in Montreal last December that brought together thousands of anti-vaccine conspiracy activists.
