The new border relaxations will take effect from Monday

Children 5 to 11 years of age who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer be required to undergo a screening test after returning to the country with adults who have been twice vaccinated.

The change is part of a series of small relaxations announced by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) last Friday.

Screening tests for people 12 years of age and older who have not been double-vaccinated do not have this exclusive right: they must continue to show proof of their vaccine once they return to Canada, the PHAC said.

On the other hand, fully vaccinated travelers are no longer required to submit a quarantine plan upon arrival.

“This requirement is excluded for parents, step-parents, guardians or caregivers who are fully vaccinated, as well as for children 5 to 11 years of age and individuals who are contraindicated for vaccination against COVID-19 for medical reasons.” .

The use of the ArriveCAN application is mandatory for all travelers departing and arriving in Canada.

It is mandatory to wear the mask indefinitely on planes and trains in the country.
