Two weeks after opening, the Rosemont Aquatic Complex has already closed

Before the opening ceremony took place, Montreal’s Rosemont Aquatic Complex had already had to suspend its operations due to “mechanical problems”.

The city’s website indicates the complex is temporarily closed. However, the duration of the work is not specified.

“We are facing problems with the water temperature in the pools and the air in the premises. The temperature is below the acceptable average,” Katia Decorde, Borough Communications Officer of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, explained in writing.

However, the building benefits from the manufacturer’s warranty.

“At this time, we cannot give a reopening date. Opening as soon as possible is our priority. At this time, the population is invited to use the outdoor facilities that are open during the summer season,” added Smt.me Deckard.

On June 21, the city of Montreal opened the new complex thanks to an investment of nearly $40 million. The venue has a capacity of 400 people and has two swimming pools as well as “multi-purpose” rooms.

The project to build the complex to replace the dilapidated old Rosemont Swimming Pool was first announced in 2015.

The scheduled opening in 2019 had to be delayed after the inspector general’s office reprimanded the city for a non-compliant tender. A 2020 date was set for the inauguration, which was pushed back due to the pandemic situation.
