Up to 30 people can meet outside from Monday, Welsh Government confirms

Up to 30 people will be able to meet outdoors from Monday, and children will no longer have to social distance, the Welsh Government has confirmed.

On Friday, July 31, First Minister for Wales, Mark Drakeford, will set out changes to the coronavirus regulations in Wales making it easier for families and friends to meet outdoors.

He is set to announce that from Monday, August 3, up to 30 people will be able to meet outdoors and children under the age of 11 will no longer have to maintain a 2m distance from each other or from adults.

The new rules set to come into force are said to be in line with the latest scientific evidence about lower transmission rates in this age group.

It comes after the First Minister publicly announced on Thursday that pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes would be able to re-open indoors from Monday, together with indoor bowling alleys, auction houses and bingo halls.

The First Minister is also expected to thank businesses for working with the Welsh Government and introducing new measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

But he will also warn action will be taken against those who ignore the measures designed to keep Wales safe.
