Up to two-thirds of the snow accumulated after the last snowfall has cleared the streets of Montreal and the collection operation should be completed by Thursday.
“Weather conditions are favorable, the weather is relatively mild and no significant precipitation has been announced,” said city spokesman Philip Sabourin.
The snowdrifts that have accumulated along the streets are not very snowy, which simplifies the work of the snowblower operators, who have to remove the 13 cm of snow that fell last week.
“Every argument has its characteristics, and it’s hard to judge after the first 24 hours,” said Philip Sabourin. The important thing is that it is completed in 96 hours. ”
Mr Sabourin could not say whether the snow removal crew would have to pull more vehicles than usual to do their job.
But he said owners of cars parked on the street should check the signs twice a day: at 3pm, to see if there is an ice-loading operation in the evening, and at 8pm, to check the possibility of operation from 7am the next day. These are the maximum deadlines for the installation of orange codes.
This winter, due to an increase in teleworking that reduces car travel, snow removal teams are making an extra effort to better synchronize operations, a city spokesman said. Its purpose is to prevent the installation of posters announcing a parking ban if teams do not have time to clear the snow at the scheduled time.
