Environment: Legault expressed surprise at the dissatisfaction rate

A new Leger poll published in our pages on Saturday revealed that one in two voters was dissatisfied with the Legalt government’s environmental record.

Coalition Avenir Quebec voters are also critical of their government record in the region: a quarter of them agree that they are dissatisfied.

“It’s a bit surprising,” chief caquiste Franకోois Legault responded on Saturday morning when his party arrived at the National Congress in Drummondville this weekend with high police security.

However, according to him, there are “results” regarding the actions taken by his government at the environmental level. As an example, he points to the historic agreement concluded by Hydro-Quebec, which supplies hydropower to New York and provides “record orders for electric buses” such as Lion Electric.

A communication challenge

“It simply came to our notice then. Certainly, if we look at the result and look at the balance sheet, we have every reason to be very proud of this balance sheet, ”said Environment Minister Benoit Charett in the same vein.

“We have an election campaign that can help us talk about this record,” said Minister Charrett, pointing out that his department’s budget has doubled since the CAQ came to power.

Deputy Prime Minister Genevieve Gilbolt commented that “definitely communication efforts need to be made” and stressed that the CAQ will have new proposals in the election campaign.

“I’m sure we will always do more in the environment,” said Louis-Hebert, a Member of the Knesset for Kadima.

Transport Minister Franకోois Bonardell also confirmed the results of the latest Leger survey on new road investments (55% of respondents support) and the 3rd Link project (58% support in the Greater Quebec City area).

The same is true for the problem of urban sprawl, with 44% of Cubans believing that “people should be free to choose the homes and lifestyles that suit them”.
