Gilles Lehoulier connects his political future with the Quebec-Lewis tunnel

The progress of the third link file is a key factor in guiding Gilles Lehoulier’s decision on whether or not to run for mayor in November 2021.

Lewis Meyer said this during a virtual press meeting before the first municipal council of the year 2021 on Monday evening.Mr. Lobim talks about his tram. I’m talking about the Quebec-Lewis tunnel. These projects motivate me so much. When I think about our city’s project that we want to put forward – we have a fantastic game plan – I’m going to say to myself “Wow, I’m going back” and fall by stating that his final decision on where he left will be announced in February or March.

Mr Lehoulier said it was “his big dream” for the Quebec government to announce the details of the third link “with an implementation deadline” in early 2021.

Personal reasons

Lewis Meyer also mentioned “personal reasons” that motivate his decision. For the 67-year-old who has been head of Lewis since 2013, you need to make sure you are in good health before seeking another four-year term.

Without revealing any names, Gilles Lehoulier confirmed that there would be “perhaps some withdrawal” of 15 Lewis municipal councilors from his political party, the Lewis Force 10.

“These withdrawals are related to personal reasons rather than team reasons, he assured. And, often, when there are some withdrawals, it allows us some recovery, which is not a bad thing.”
