India-China border tension: Violent confrontation between soldiers at Galvan in June

New Delhi:

The meeting between the Indian and Chinese military commanders is currently taking place near the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control. Middle border Two neighbors.

Sources said the lieutenant general level talks led by two lieutenant generals of the Indian Army were taking place near the traditional Chinese border post in Moldova near eastern Ladakh. The US Secretary of State is also attending the meeting.

Indian and Chinese forces are tense along the LIC, especially in the tourist draw in eastern Ladakh, including Lake Pangong and in many places in the rocky, mountainous region where weather conditions are unforgivable.

The Indian and Chinese military commanders met several times before and after the violent confrontation between the soldiers of the two sides on June 15.

Today’s meeting is the sixth round of corps commander-level talks, which will focus on the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries on secession and expansion in eastern Ladakh, the news agency PTI quoted unnamed government sources as saying.

For the first time, sources said, a US Secretary of State-level official was part of the Indian delegation and India was looking for a definite outcome from those talks.

The two sides agreed to resolve the border line during a meeting between Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese envoy Wang Yi during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Moscow on September 10.

The agreement includes measures to quickly disassemble troops, prevent actions that escalate tensions, adhere to all agreements and protocols on border management, and take steps to restore peace along the LIC.

The Indian delegation will be led by Lt. Gen. Harinder Singh, Commander-in-Chief of the Leh-based 14 Corps, and Major General Liu Lin, Commander South Xinjiang Military Area, is expected to lead the talks.

“During the talks, India will be urged to completely separate Chinese forces from the conflict points,” a source quoted PTI as saying.

During the harsh winter months, the army arranged to maintain the level of troops and weapons in all forward areas of eastern Ladakh and other sensitive highlands, with temperatures dropping to minus 25 degrees Celsius, sources said.
