Quebec Court Judge Richard Meredith will issue the verdict Monday in Gatineau court.

Recall that in 1988, Major-General Danny Fortin was charged with sexual assault in connection with incidents at the Royal Military College Saint-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The complainant was said to be another student attending the establishment at that time.

At the time of the indictment, in the summer of 2021, the soldier appeared regularly on television because he was the leader of the government’s vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in the country.

Danny Fortin was relieved of his duties immediately after learning of the allegation.

The principal concerned, who always denied the allegations against him, took legal action to regain his job. But the federal court dismissed his claim.

Proceedings in Danny Fortin’s trial ended on October 25 with a final plea by the Crown prosecutor.
