“The company should take note of this and finally take action to restore their quality of life to the surrounding districts. I hope the company takes on its responsibilities once and for all, otherwise we will continue to hunt relentlessly until it complies, ”Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante responded Tuesday morning.

Sanimax specializes in recovering dead farm animals, used cooking oil or skins and organic matter. However, residents of the area have been complaining for years about the stench affecting their quality of life.

Incidents where trucks overturn dead bodies on the roads have done nothing to improve the mental state of the local residents.

In its judgment, the court found that odors were contaminants in themselves and that it was lawful to want to measure and control them.

“Citizens of Riviere-des-Prairies have reason to rejoice in these clear judgments. These rulings provide us with additional tools to provide the quality of life they deserve,” said Caroline Bourgeois, mayor of Riviere-des-Prairies-Point-Ox-Aspen.
