On Friday afternoon, in many cities in Quebec, thousands of demonstrators Participated in the World March for Climate Justice.

It is not yesterday that the population is worried about this cause. Millions of people marched along with Greta Thunberg in Montreal during this International March 2019 edition.

I met the people involved in the march on Friday and told me about their frustration at not being heard even though the weather emergency was becoming more concrete.

It is good to claim out loud what is to be done, but if these calls for help are ignored by decision makers who depend on our future, we are frustrated.

Stiff ear

Should our governments listen to the demands of the people?

The warning report of the IPCC (The Intergovernmental Panel on the Climate), published in August, sounded the alarm for humanity. Strict measures must be taken quickly to protect the environment to limit the effects of climate change. The quality of life of billions of people is at stake.

In Quebec, in 2021, the weather is deteriorating. January 2021 is the lightest January in 100 years. August 2021 was the hottest August in many parts of the province. How do you sleep when you know that temperatures in Quebec and Canada are warming twice as fast as in other parts of the world? What are we waiting for to act?

We may be aware, demand climate justice, demonstrate: If politicians do not listen, we will knock down a wall.

A little Q-tip (reusable), Mr. Legalt? What about you, Mr. Trudeau?
